It's National Novel Writing Month
Are you in!?

jade_kadir6:23pm: The Great 2007 NaNoWriMo Extravaganza
I'm really excited about NaNoWriMo this year. I think we have a great bunch of people in Bellingham. I usually can't make it to any write-ins because of work, but I am glad I found this community instead. So *Zen Hugs* for everyone. :)

If you want to see what I'm working on, check out my profile.
Current Mood: crazy

windowscreen3:11pm: Hey. I was thinking of getting a mac, and I was wondering if they're compatible with pc's, and microsoft word? Do all the websites work with it?

5th October 2007

kehrli12:09pm: First Meeting!
The first meeting of Bellingham NaNoWriMo/ WWU Roman Wino is just around the corner!

And no, you do NOT have to be a WWU student to come - the club is ONLY so that we can have a nice, free, reserved room.

First meeting:

Friday, October 12
6pm-8pm (but nobody wants this room, seriously, so we can stay as late as we want).
Location: WWU CF23

If you came to the NaNoWriMo meetings last year, I got the same room.
If you didn't, and you have not been to WWU very often (or at all), or if you just don't know where that room is, there are directions and a map! behind the cut:

Wait, WHERE is it?Collapse )

This meeting will be primarily talking about our writing experience, why we want to do Nanowrimo, and how we can drag our unsuspecting friends and family members into it.

See you next week!

pussinboots1:11pm: Nano meeting!
Our ML this year (kehrli) posted this in the forums, but I thought I'd relay it here since he won't have time.

There's a Nano meeting in the VU tonight, Monday the 9th, at 7:30 p.m. If you walk in off of High Street we'll be right there, but if you use the Garden Street entrance you'll have to use the elevator and hop up to the sixth floor.

If you're not a student and you don't know how to get there, criada and I will be walking there from The Black Drop coffee house downtown, leaving at about 7:00 p.m. Feel free to tag along :)

bolddeciever1:07am: The Changing of the Guard
I don't know if anyone views this in the off season, but just in case:

As you may well know, I'm not in Bellingham anymore; thus I will not be able to continue as ML. Seriously, someone should take up the helm. Not only does it get us the group goodies and build publicity, but it also gives people who have questions someone to turn to. If you're interested, contact Municipal Liason headmaster Erin Allday (erin [at] nanowrimo [dot] org), and also mention it here so I can let her know and so I can transfer mod-status for this LJ community.

Hope you're all excited for November!

oceanseight1:54pm: dare
I made this dare in the Historical Fiction forum on the boards, but I figure I should make it for you guys as well:
Put The Aristocrats in your novel. Bonus points if you actually write it so it ties into the plot somehow.

Poll #593608 Kickoff

Where would you like to do the kickoff?

The Black Drop, like all the meetings
Another public venue (specify in post)
Private residence -- more flexibility (and comment if you'd like to volunteer your abode; I might be able to do it here but the more options the better)
Other (specify in post)

When would you like to do the kickoff?

The 31st -- take it down to the line!
The weekend of the 29th
Other (specify)

Other thoughts?

Some considerations -- I most likely can't do anything between 5 and 10 on the weekend; it's impossible to get work off less than, oh, a month in advance. (Did I mention I'm sick of my job?)

Any input is welcome!

aricaiu3:25pm: Introduction etc.
Hello! My name is Ariel, and I'm a junior at Fairhaven College. (Concentration: creative writing, gender studies, and speculative fiction/fantasy.) This is my second year doing NaNo, and my first year I'm going to win. I have ISP credit riding on it, a new-found support group, and a half-started outline to see me through to the bitter end. Not even my 21st birthday is going to get in my way. (Why did I have to be born in November?)

I'm on AIM as Aricaiu if anyone would like to chat, and post on the NaNo forums under the same username. I'm writing a YA story this year, so I'll mostly be hanging around that forum. Look forward to meeting you all at The Black Drop!
Current Mood: uncomfortable
bolddeciever12:36pm: Meetups!
Okay, here we go.

Kickoff at The Black Drop this Saturday; I'll get there some time between 12:00 and 1:00. I'll have a giant bag of Spout and a "50k or Bust" sign.

Meetings will be Saturdays at noon-ish through the afternoon and Wednesdays at some undetermined time (any preference?)
Current Mood: excited

5th October 2005

bolddeciever5:50pm: Hi fellow crazy people novelists! Now that it's October again, it's time to start thinking about meetups! If everyone else is OK about it, last year's plan of Saturday afternoons at The Black Drop worked pretty well. We also have a request for a second weekday meeting; any ideas?

Also, duffy61 expressed interest in the cahracter sheet I was using, so here's the link. It's not perfect (for example, it doesn't have a spot in physical appearance for "hair color") but it's a nice tool for working in advance on characters.

1st September 2005

bolddeciever12:00am: Welcome to Bellingham NaNo! This is the place for 'hamsters who are doing National Novel Writing Month to meet and discuss. I'm your friendly neigborhood Municipal Liason, Hunter, and I'm really excited for this year! Just a few ground rules.

  • This is a closed membership forum. If you want to join, just reply to this topic and I'll add you to the list as soon as I get the chance. By asking to join you agree to the rules laid out below.
  • [edit -- Forgot how painful and annoying that feature is. The community is now open membership; by joining you agree to abide by the rules. Be nice.]

  • Keep it on topic. Posts about NaNo are great. Posts about writing and such in general are fine as long as they're not excessive. Posts about what your cat ate for breakfast are best saved for your personal journal.

  • Don't be a jerk. Constructive feedback is okay, but rudeness and put-downs are not. We're all in this together.

  • Novel excerpts and other creative work posted on this community is the sole property of the poster unless stated otherwise. Please respect this, and do not use such materials in any way without permission. In order to protect yourself, you are advised to make such posts "friends-only" and at your own risk; remember, this is the internet.

  • Hope I'm not forgetting anything, and good luck!
